RL (Round Liner) — The Framework Builder
Every PMU piece starts with RL. The needle tips converge into a tight point, delivering precise, controllable ink flow for everything from ultra-fine hair strokes to bold outlines. RL defines the structure and overall shape of the work — for hair-stroke brows, fine eyeliner and lip contouring, it is the default choice.
RS (Round Shader) — The Layering Specialist
RS looks similar to RL, but the needle tips are slightly spread — what artists call an “open” grouping. Instead of packing color aggressively, it builds soft transitions layer by layer. It is the go-to for lip blush gradients and for working on sensitive or fragile skin where color depth must be built gradually for a natural, realistic result.
M1 (Magnum) — The Efficiency Engine
M1 arranges needles in two staggered flat rows, forming a high-capacity “ink conveyor.” It drives large amounts of pigment quickly, making it the first choice for solid-color lips, dark fills and any large area that demands high saturation. Because it hits hard, artists must control hand speed and pressure — and buyers should know it is a professional-grade tool, not a beginner one.
RM (Round / Curved Magnum) — The Safe Artist for Facial Work
RM curves the two needle rows into a fan shape (also called curved magnum or CM). The outer needles sit slightly “softer” against the skin, reducing trauma on delicate facial areas, lowering resistance, and laying color more evenly. For powder brows, facial scar camouflage and realistic portrait work, RM is the gold-standard configuration.
