MEDICAL-GRADE MANUFACTURING
ROUND MAGNUM TATTOO CARTRIDGES FOR SMOOTH SHADING, BLENDING & LARGE AREA COVERAGE
At R&G Bio, we manufacture disposable tattoo needle cartridges for shops, distributors, and permanent makeup artists worldwide. Our focus is simple: consistent performance and safety standards you can rely on.
The curved magnum (RM) line is built for soft shading, smooth gradients, and controlled blending. The curved needle arrangement follows the natural contour of the skin more comfortably than flat magnums, helping artists achieve softer edges, more even ink flow, and cleaner transitions across larger shaded areas. Artists reach for these cartridges for black and grey work, portraits, realism, soft color blending, and any tattoo that needs a smooth, natural fade. We carry RM configurations from 5RM through 27RM, with diameters from #08 (0.25mm) to #12 (0.35mm), giving you options for fine shading, everyday blending, or broad-area coverage.
Safety details matter. Each cartridge uses a membrane system to prevent backflow. Every unit gets individual EO gas sterilization and its own packaging. Full batch traceability comes standard. The needles are 316L surgical stainless steel in medical-grade polymer housings, manufactured in ISO Class 7 cleanrooms under ISO 13485 standards.
We also run OEM and ODM services: private labeling, custom configurations, and MOQ starting at 20,000 units.

🔬 Needle Structure
Curved Magnums — also called Soft Edge or Round Magnums — arrange their needles in a curved arch, not straight rows. The curve makes better contact with the skin. Edges come out softer. Gradients blend better. You don’t see those hard borders or needle marks that flat magnums can leave behind.
The curved structure works better on body contours. Arms, shoulders, ribs, thighs, face — flat magnums tend to skip or catch on these areas. The pressure spreads out more evenly with a curved layout. Harsh edge impact drops. You can shade longer without overworking the skin. Ink goes in gradually. Layering tones becomes easier, and the result is a softer blend. Realism artists, black and grey specialists, and anyone doing smooth color transitions reach for these.
5RM and 7RM give you tighter control. Use them for facial features, portrait details, and delicate tonal work. 9RM and 11RM hit a balance between control and coverage — these are your everyday realism and smooth blending sizes. When you need broad gradients, background shading, or large-area soft saturation where smoothness trumps fine detail, grab 15RM, 23RM, or 27RM.
The curved design cuts down on skin trauma during long sessions. Your shading stays more consistent from start to finish.
Primary Uses & Applications
Soft Realism Shading: Smooth black and grey transitions, portrait soft shadows, and natural tonal gradients
Color Blending: Seamless pigment mixing and gradual color transitions in realistic tattoo work
Background Shading: Large-area soft saturation for clouds, smoke, water, and abstract backgrounds
Portrait Work: Gentle facial shading, skin texture rendering, and realistic depth building
Black and Grey Realism: Layered tonal construction with soft edge control and smooth fade-outs
Soft Edge Detailing: Subtle transitions where hard outlines would break realism in organic compositions

How to Choose the Right RM Tattoo Cartridge
Picking an RM size isn’t complicated. Think about how big the area is, how soft you want the shade, and how much ground
you need to cover per pass. Curved magnums spread ink differently than flat magnums — the curved arch gives you softer edges
and more even distribution. That’s the whole point.
Small groupings give you precision. Big groupings give you speed.
Every artist finds their own sweet spot through trial and error, but here’s what generally works:
Small RM Needles
For Detail Shading & Precision Blending
5RM Tattoo Cartridges
Best for ultra-soft shading, tight areas, and delicate transitions.
5RM — Tiny areas. Face details. Subtle black and grey. You build gradients slowly with this one, and the skin takes it well because the grouping is tight. When you’re working on something the size of a fist or smaller, this is your needle.
7RM Tattoo Cartridges
Best for small smooth shading, and controlled black & grey work.
7RM — A bit more coverage, still plenty of control. Soft blends, small portraits, fine texture. A lot of artists who do realism keep 7RM in their go-to setup. It handles tonal transitions without demanding too much from the skin.
Medium RM Needles
For Everyday Shading & Portrait Work
9RM Tattoo Cartridges
Best for versatile soft shading and balanced coverage.
9RM — If you only buy one curved magnum, buy this. It sits right in the middle. Portrait shading, medium black and grey, smooth gradients, soft edge work — 9RM does it all without feeling like a compromise.
11RM Tattoo Cartridges
Best for portrait tattoos and medium-area smooth shading.
11RM — Bigger coverage, still soft. Realism, black and grey sleeves, layered shading on medium-sized pieces. You get smoothness plus consistency. It’s the size you grab when the piece is too big for 9RM but you don’t want to go full throttle yet.
Large RM Needles
For Everyday Shading & Portrait Work
13RM Tattoo Cartridges
Best for medium-to-large soft shading areas.
13RM — Faster ink flow, still keeps that curved-magnum smoothness. Large black and grey sections, color blending, soft backgrounds. When the piece opens up and you need to move quicker without losing the blend quality.
15RM Tattoo Cartridges
Best for efficient large-area blending and smooth saturation.
15RM — Large work. Full gradients on big pieces. Soft and even across wide areas. If you’re trying to speed up your workflow on substantial pieces, this is where you start.
17RM / 23RM / 27RM Tattoo Cartridges
Best for large-scale shading, background work and broad gradients.
17RM and up — Back pieces, leg sleeves, full-panel backgrounds. Maximum coverage, maximum efficiency. The blend stays smooth even at this scale. You’re not picking these for detail work — you’re picking them to cover ground fast while keeping the shade clean.
Which RM Needle Size Should You Choose?
Fine detail, precision, tight gradients—stick with 5RM or 7RM. Most artists keep 9RM and 11RM loaded daily for portraits and general shading; they hit the versatility sweet spot. When you’re knocking out large pieces, wide blends, or just need saturation fast, 13RM, 15RM, and 23RM will save you time and lay down more even coverage.

Why Artists Choose RM Tattoo Cartridges
RMs are popular because that curved needle formation gives a softer contact edge. Blends go in smoother, transitions heal cleaner, and ink settles more evenly. You don’t get the harsh edges standard magnums sometimes leave behind. Compared to standard magnum configurations, RM cartridges are especially effective for:
The curved magnum design also helps reduce excessive skin trauma during long shading sessions, making RM cartridges a popular choice for artists focused on smooth finishes and controlled saturation.
