Flat Shader (F) Tattoo Cartridges for Bold Lines & Solid Fills

R&G Bio manufactures flat shader tattoo cartridges for brands, distributors and studios that need sharp edge control and strong color packing — with stable, factory-direct quality.

Each cartridge holds a single straight row of needles soldered in line for a blade-like edge: crisp lines, geometric shapes and solid color fills. We run the full flat line from 4F to 15F in #10 and #12 gauge.

Every cartridge is EO gas sterilized, batch-coded for full traceability, and produced in ISO Class 7 cleanrooms under an ISO 13485 quality system. Review our certifications and compliance documents and see how we manufacture before you place a bulk order.

We support full OEM/ODM programs — housing colors, private labeling and custom packaging built around your brand, with factory-direct MOQs and tiered wholesale pricing.

Built Like a Medical Device, Priced for Wholesale

We control every step in our own factory, from needle grinding to sterile packing.

01 Safety Membrane System

A medical-grade elastic membrane sits inside every cartridge. It keeps needle tension steady during long sessions and stops ink and body fluids from flowing back into the grip and machine. No backflow, no cross-contamination.

02 Polished Needle Tips

We use 316L surgical stainless steel with a mirror-polish finish. Smooth tips mean less friction in the skin and cleaner healed results. Each row is soldered in line by mold, so the straight edge stays identical across every batch.

03 Medical-Grade Housing

The shell is medical-grade polymer with a clear tip. Artists see the ink flow while they work. The body has a non-slip grip design, and the standard fitting works with most rotary machines and cartridge grips on the market.

04 EO Gas Sterilization

Every cartridge is sealed in its own blister pack and sterilized with EO gas. Our sterilization process is validated under ISO 11135, with batch records kept for full traceability.

05 Two-Stage Quality Control

Every unit passes 100% visual inspection on the line. Then 30% of each batch is checked again under 100x microscopy for tip shape, solder quality, and row alignment. Bent or dull needles never ship.

Why a Single Row?

A magnum spreads needles across two rows. A flat shader puts them all on one line. That single edge works almost like a blade: it cuts a clean border, fills corners without overflow, and lays down dense, even saturation along the full width of the row. Artists rotate the wrist to work with the flat side for fills, or ride the edge for sharp detail. That is why flat shaders stay in every blackwork, geometric, and traditional artist’s setup — no other configuration gives this level of edge control.

Where Curved Magnums Work Best

One configuration, four core jobs. If the work needs soft edges and smooth tone, this is the needle.

Large-Area Color Packing

The single row drives dense, even saturation with a clean border. Ideal for solid color fields in traditional, neo-traditional, and Japanese work where edges must stay crisp.

Backgrounds & Blackwork

Heavy black backgrounds, tribal fields, and blackout panels. Larger flats like 11F to 15F lay down solid black fast, with sharp borders around the existing design.

Black & Grey Tonal Work

Realism artists use flats for tonal gradations and layered shading where structure matters. The straight edge builds value in controlled layers instead of soft feathering.

Geometric, Corners & Edges

Mandalas, geometric patterns, and any design with tight corners. The straight row reaches into angles and traces sharp borders that round needles simply cannot hit.

Small Number, Detail Work. Big Number, Solid Coverage.

Needle count sets the row width. Match it to the job — that is the whole logic.

4F – 5F

Lines, details, tight corners

6F – 9F

Shading, thicker lines, medium fills

11F – 13F

Large fills, solid backgrounds

15F

Maximum coverage, big color fields

Weaved Magnum (M1) vs Flat Shader (F/M2)

Both fill and shade. The difference is the structure: M1 spreads needles over two staggered rows for fast, forgiving coverage; the flat shader concentrates them in one row for sharp edges and maximum control.

FLAT SHADER (F/M2)

WEAVED MAGNUM (M1)

Needle Layout

Single straight row

Two staggered rows, zipper weave

Coverage Speed

Fast on small to medium zones

Faster on large areas

Ink Saturation

Dense per point, along a narrow band

Even across a wide band, fewer gaps

Edge Character

Sharp, defined borders

Clean fills, no striping

Skin Trauma

Needs a skilled hand — the edge can cut like a blade if dragged

Lower — pressure spread over two rows

Best For

Geometric work, corners, bold lines, blackwork, tonal detail

Large-area packing, backgrounds, fast fills

Body Areas

Flat skin zones, straight edges, corners

Large flat zones, general coverage

FAQs

M1 is a weaved magnum: two staggered rows of needles, made for fast, even coverage on large areas. “M2” has two common meanings depending on the supplier — in Western naming it usually means a stacked magnum (two tight rows), while some factories use M2 for a single-row flat needle. Our flat shader line is the single-row type. In practice: choose M1 for large-area packing and speed; choose a flat shader for sharp edges, geometric work, and detail control. Always confirm the exact configuration with your supplier before ordering.

Flat shaders are used for geometric tattoos, mandalas, sharp corners and clean edges, bold lines with a flat character, blackwork, and solid color fills in traditional and neo-traditional styles. Artists also use them for tonal gradations and layered shading in black and grey realism, where they need strong saturation with full edge control.

Stretch the skin taut and hold the machine at a low, steady angle. Shade with small circular motions or smooth pendulum sweeps, and let the full row do the work — never drag the sharp edge of the row sideways, or it can cut the skin like a blade. Build tone in light layers instead of one heavy pass. Use 6F to 9F for general shading and detail, and larger sizes like 11F to 15F for fills and backgrounds.

A 4F is the smallest common flat shader: four needles soldered in one straight row. Artists use it for fine bold lines, small details, tight corners, lettering, and small geometric fills. It leaves a sharper, more defined mark than a round shader, so it is a favorite for fine blackwork and detail edging.
